The Monsters Inc. franchise gave us a perspective of monsters and all the other things that kids usually get scared of. Every creepy creature created through the figment of our imagination was wonderfully portrayed in the original movie. The second installment of the movie goes back in time to showcase how Mike (Crystal) and James (Goodman) became friends which eventually led to the original movie. Mike is an aspiring scarer and being a part of the university is his ultimate dream come true. He knows every move and scare like the back of his hand, has swallowed all theories that have ever been invented and knows everything that a scarer should know, except for the fact that he does not actually look very scary. James Sullivan, on the other hand, is everything that Mike is not. He does not care about learning theories and reading books all because he knows he is scaring and when it comes to scaring someone in the real world, he can do it like a piece of cake. Along with the fact that he comes from a lineage of scarers, makes life more so easy for him. Mike is determined to show James that simply being a ‘Sullivan’ is not enough whereas James wants to outshine Mike by showing him that no matter how much he knows, it is not going to be enough to make him a scarer. The movie very interestingly showcases the real college life, in monster style that makes things very interesting and entertaining. The movie may not have roll over the floor laughter but is still a good entertainer who, in spite of what you may believe, does not have a predictable end to it. A decent entertaining watch for all ages.Thumbs up: Fabulous animation, good depiction of the real world
Thumbs down: Not all that funny
