If you haven’ seen Ridley Scott’s 1982 movie, Alien, it’s ok. Prometheus narrates the story before Aliens. You do not necessarily have to see the original series to fully understand this movie, but it is highly recommended. Set in the year of 2093, archaeologist Elizabeth Shaw (Rapace) and geologist Charlie Holloway (Marshall-Green) make a very unique discovery of human ancestors to suggest that the human lineage is not due to natural evolution but the result of an alien species arriving on Earth millions of years ago and leaving their mark behind. In a bid to make contact with the species, a team of experts including Shaw and Holloway make their journey to a distant planet to find the ‘engineers’ and get answers to a lot of humanities questions. The crew is headed by Meredith Vickers (Theron) and the crew is serviced by an android, David (Fassbender) who’s immense knowledge of the universe may come in handy whilst communicating with the ‘engineers’. Although it does sound like another alien movie, it actually isn’t. A very interesting and gripping story that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat for a very long time. Perhaps seeing the rest of the franchisee is a good idea after all. If you want some good alien thrills and chills, this has to be the perfect movie for you.
Thumbs up: Amazing story, very gripping
Thumbs down: Perhaps a more twisted end would have been a good idea
